Preparing your Book for the EBM »

Self-Publishing on the Espresso Book Machine®

What You Need to Get Started:
Espresso Book Self-Publishing

Before you can start printing your book, you need to have to print-ready PDF files – one file for the interior pages, and one for the cover.  Print-ready means that all of your writing, editing, design, and file formatting is finished, and the files can be printed as is to produce your book.  While some authors are able to complete the book layout and generate print-ready PDFs themselves, most authors choose to work with an EBM consultant who can provide assistance in any aspect of the pre-press process.  Depending on where you are in the process, the EBM location may be able to help you with editorial services, interior book layout, cover design, or image scanning, among other things.  The most common programs used to create book files are MS Word and InDesign, but you can start your project in almost any software, as long as it can generate a PDF.  Contact an EBM location today to discuss which set-up option and services are best for you!

If you are able to create interior and cover PDFs yourself, please review our Submission Requirements thoroughly to ensure that your book will print properly.  You can also refer to our DIY Guidelines for helpful tips.  Please contact an EBM location directly to learn the preferred method for file submission.Get Discovered through the EBM
